There's nothing to adding an in-line switch to a lamp or appliance. Just unscrew the housing of this little black-plastic rocker switch, lay the cord inside, and screw it back together. Made for anything that draws up to 10A at 125VDC or 6A at 250VDC. From Gardner-Bender®. UL
