What’s left of a Kansas City cow after all the steaks are gone? Lots of leather! (Think buckskin, not biker jacket.) You choose from: 1) The one-piece Lace Leather Belly. Really more of a long half-belly, this solid piece of leather is between 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 sq feet. Ours was black, approx 10-1/2” wide x 53” long x 1/8” thick. 2) A pack of Leather Strips. Ours was a very assorted 2 lbs of strips and larger pieces of leather, 1/16” to 1/8” thick, in rust and brown. 3) The Farmer Bundle Repair Bag, 2 lbs of scraps in various colors. Ours contained a solid 12” x 8” black piece and a very large bundle of brown leather thongs 47” long x approx 1/8” square. Lots of variety, and lots of heavy leather for the price.

Flying With Film
You’d think a lead-lined bag would weigh more! Even holding film cartridges, these are light enough for your carry-on luggage. The lead-lined paper bag that is 19-1/2” x 12” wide opens to 3-3/4”. The 24-1/2” x 16-3/4” wide bag opens to 4”. Check the Web for hints on how best to protect your film with them.

Attach Anything!
You need this. Anybody who's ever made a third trip to the hardware store on the same day needs this. The (100) -- count 'em, (100) -- chrome vanadium driver and bit attachments include slotted, Phillips, square (Robertson) head, torx, hex and 12-point bits, plus security Phillips, torx and hex, and (4) different driver adapters (one of which, a super-cute cup-hook driver, has us oddly excited). They're all in a flip-top plastic case. How come it's surplus? If you turn it upside down and shake it, some of the bits fall out of their little size-marked slots. So don't do that. Or stick a thin sheet of foam inside it and all will be well.

Everything you'll need for small crafts in a heavy-duty, zippered black canvas pouch: (4) pair of spring-loaded needle-nose pliers with jaws sized at 3/16", 3/32", 1/16" and 1/32" wide; a pair of end nippers; both standard and fine-point tweezers; a 3-1/2"/80mm brass caliper; a very sharp probe; and a pair of thread scissors. Trebuchets Beaucoup
Feel like launching something? This very well done 174pp, soft-cover book--"The Art of the Catapult," from Chicago Review Press--is full of history, lore and detailed building instructions for all of your better siege engines: ballistae, onagers, trebuchets and catapults. Quite suitable for those medieval school projects. The peace-loving bonus at the end contains instructions for making a "basket-pult," a table top basketball game, complete with backboard. Good Tweezers

The Littlest Headlamp
