Lampless Lava
Clear acrylic sealed tube, 3-1/8" dia x 8" tall, divided into two equal chambers. The dividing wall has a hole in the center, and the tube has a quantity of viscous violet goo (glycerin?) in it that fills one chamber about 3/4 full. Stand the tube on end with the full chamber up, and over a 10 minute period the goo will ooze from the upper to the lower chamber, blowing bubbles and dribbling droplets in the process, all in slow motion. The action is somewhat reminiscent of a lava lamp, without the heat and light, and with a mixed air and goo chamber that yields much more interesting patterns. Mesmerizing, disgusting, fascinating, soothing. If you only need a little soothing you may want to try the same thing in a smaller size: 2-1/8" diameter x 4-7/8" tall. It comes in a variety of colors from which we will choose yours.

Little Squirt
Water war! Load the ammunition (water) and blast your opponent away with state-of-the-art rubber squirt guns! They're so advanced you don't even have to pull a trigger. Just squeeze the sides. Three different styles come in yellow, green and blue (our choice). They're only 2-1/2" long, so pick a small battle. Like the cat using your couch as a claw sharpener. That'll get your point across.

Tattoos
There are temporary tattoos all over the place, but how many of them glow in the dark? Our (6) packs, that's how many. Each pack holds a 5" x 5-1/2" sheet full of tattoos, most 1/2" to 2" across. The spirals and tai chi designs are black and white, the rest are in full color.

Hang this sucker on the outside of the garage, and read the temperature from the kichen window. If your garage is reasonably close. And it's not dark outside. The 15-1/2" tall x 2-9/16" wide white-plastic alcohol thermometer has red fluid, good-sized black numbers, and clear markings from -30°C to 50°C and from -20°F to 120°F. An easy read.

Blip Blop Color
Executive toy consisting of a translucent plastic container, roughly 4" wide 6-3/4" tall x3/4" thick mounted on a swivel on a stand. The container has (1) clear and (2) colored, translucent immiscible fluids. Flip the container on the swivel and an ever changing series of blips and blops of color drift slowly down from the top to the bottom while bubbles and steams of clear rise from bottom to top. A mix of colors results as the blobs appear singly or overlap: red and blue single colors also yield purple patterns. Fascinating.

A Little Lightning
Despite parental advice, here's a good reason to sit in in a dark room and think small. This Plasma Storm isn't as large as a standard plasma ball, so not only is it much more affordable -- the effect is concentrated and startling. The black plastic base has a switch. Turn it on at which point the 3" dia plastic globe (think baseball size) is filled with blue stems that flare to pink, looking like dozens of electric flowers searching for a way out. Very cool. Comes with a 6-ft power cord with transformer.

Weather on a Pole
A whole weather station, all hung on one 58" pole ready to be planted in your garden. It includes a 15" high thermometer with °F and °C marked in large numerals, a rain gauge that will measure up to 4" or 10 cm. of rainfall against an expanded scale, plus wind speed and direction indicators. We suggest you hit the latter (2) with a shot of WD-40 to loosen them up. You get no read out on the wind, but can make a subjective judgement from the speed with which the anemometer spins and the direction the arrow points. Sturdy black plastic, it will be a handsome and useful addition to your yard. (We got 0.25" of rain last night!!)

Happy, The Hydrant
If Poppin' Fresh" the dough guy had a kid who joined the fire department, he'd look like our little grinning fire hydrant. Proud to be 2-3/8" tall x 1-1/8" dia at his bottom, he's pleasingly squishy, just like dad, but in yellow and red rubber. And just right for adding a little fun to physical therapy for fingers and thumbs.
