Small wooden yo-yo, 1-3/4" in diameter. It's plain wood with a happy bear line drawing on each side. Comes with instructions in French and English for walking the dog, sleeping etc.

Lampless Lava
Clear acrylic sealed tube, 3-1/8" dia x 8" tall, divided into two equal chambers. The dividing wall has a hole in the center, and the tube has a quantity of viscous violet goo (glycerin?) in it that fills one chamber about 3/4 full. Stand the tube on end with the full chamber up, and over a 10 minute period the goo will ooze from the upper to the lower chamber, blowing bubbles and dribbling droplets in the process, all in slow motion. The action is somewhat reminiscent of a lava lamp, without the heat and light, and with a mixed air and goo chamber that yields much more interesting patterns. Mesmerizing, disgusting, fascinating, soothing. If you only need a little soothing you may want to try the same thing in a smaller size: 2-1/8" diameter x 4-7/8" tall. It comes in a variety of colors from which we will choose yours.

Wind this up and you'll have the world at your feet -- or at least spinning on your finger. The 4-3/4" tall plastic desk toy has a globe atop a flesh-colored plastic hand with the index finger extended, and a red base that covers a small manual pencil sharpener. For dull days.

And pack light. This straw/bamboo/tatami (hard to tell, actually, but it's a natural fiber) mat is tightly woven but very flexible. Measures 70" x 24" when open, but folds on a center seam and rolls up into a 12" long x 3-1/2" tube. Tropical green or pink fabric back and binding.

Cheap Time
Quartz stopwatch which presents you with the time (12 or 24 hour system), has an alarm, and operates as a stopwatch. Palm sized, it has 3/16" tall LCD readouts, and comes in assorted colored plastic (our choice) with lanyard to hang around your neck. That all sounds great, and it is, once you exercise a little patience translating the instructions from the English translation of Chinese on the box!! The problem is that the case and the movements of the setting and stop/reset etc. buttons are pretty cheap. It is fully functional, but we are not going to make any claims about durability. On the other hand, how extensively do most of us use stop watches anyway?

Boogie Bot
Makes us want to dance every time we wind up one of these clever/goofy fools. The little 3-1/2" tall squarehead with the smiley face does what some of us (of a certain age) believe is a modified bugaloo. Very nice hip action, a rotating tummy, and watch out for those swinging arms. If you've ever said "to live is to dance, to dance is to live," you need this guy. We'll send you a red, grey or blue version, but frankly, you ought to have to a pair, because nobody likes to boogie alone.

…you'll love the ball. Much more pleasing than a cube, this 3-1/4" dia plastic sphere puzzle, called the K-ball, asks you to match up multiple stripes, circle quadrants, and colors. In assorted bright colors, we think it's tougher than the cube to solve, but much more attractive even when you can't, plus you can play catch with it.
